What CIOs Will Spend Money On in 2022
Sergey Stelmakh | 08/12/2021
Digitalization, data application, speed to market for IT solutions and increased security, along with improved workforce skills, will be the focus of business and IT in 2022, writes Mary Shacklett, president of the consulting company Transworld Data , on the InformationWeek portal.

CIOs and other IT leaders have begun to prepare IT budgets for next year in an environment where COVID-19 restrictions are no longer as severe, but many organizations are still recovering from the impact. The main driver of IT development in companies remains the desire to digitalize their business, coupled with the realization that every digital asset carries risks of ransomware attacks and security breaches. Meanwhile, markets have become more competitive and time to market has accelerated.

Here are four key IT spending areas in 2022 where CIOs will invest heavily.

1. Improving the qualifications of employees
The pandemic has led to office closures and more finland mobile database working remotely. New digital communications technologies have been introduced to support remote workers and facilitate collaboration through online tools. According to a CompTIA survey of HR leaders, 41% of companies will place a new emphasis on communications and new technology skills for remote work, while 42% will upskill and reskill existing employees. Upskilling will also affect IT departments, which now have to support tools and networks for remote video and collaboration, as well as application development in no-code/low-code environments, integration of various cloud and on-premises computing platforms, analytics, AI, and the Internet of Things.
