Among the curious sights of the resort island of Samui is the Wat Plai Laem Temple, also known as the Temple of the Many-Armed Buddha, located in its northeastern part. Its main shrine is a giant statue of the goddess of mercy and patroness of the weak, Guanyin, which has 18 arms.

Wat Plai Laem Temple is not an ancient landmark, but was created quite recently – its construction was carried out between 2001 and 2004. The funds for the construction of the temple were collected from donations of Buddhist believers. The author of this large-scale religious project was a Thai architect.

two dozen different structures, including original Buddhist sculptures. There is a picturesque lake with many fish and even turtles. The main part of the temple is located on the water. The center of the special database is a luxurious temple located on the island with a golden statue of Buddha and lushly decorated rooms with frescoes on the walls.

The 12-meter statue of the multi-armed goddess Guanyin, after whom the temple complex Wat Plai Laem received its second name, is also located on the island to the right of the main temple. You can get to it by walking across the bridge. On the island to the left of the main temple is another 12-meter sculpture - a huge statue of the Laughing Buddha (Hottei).

Despite its young age, the Wat Plai Laem temple complex on Koh Samui has already become one of the popular local attractions. It attracts tourists not only with its original architecture and giant statues of deities, but also with a beautiful park area where it is simply pleasant to take a walk.
