Still life snapshot of a bootsale bowl

When my assignment is due in I’ll be able to share some photographs of my bedroom (finally!) Between now and then, there’s a little bit to do to make sure everything is looking lovely before I show it to you. For now, here’s a still life snapshot of one of my favourite items on my dressing table; this distressed bowl.

TOP 1This bowl was a bootsale find. It’s a beaten up shallow glass bowl. The pattern is a leaf transfer onto the outside, which is peeling and chipped in places, making it a very delicate item. I loved it – it had a real ‘shabby chic‘ feel and the imperfections only gave it character. It was a bargain at 50p, and I became the proud owner of the bowl.

I’ve had it for about a year, and it’s seen two houses and two dressing tables! In my last room, it was used for keeping my jewellery all in one place. It was handy for throwing earrings and ring in at the whatsapp number list end of the day without having to worry about losing them!

In my current bedroom I’m using the bowl to tidy my makeup away. Makeup is one of those things which, if left unchecked, can spread across your dresser and completely take it over. I’m always messy when it comes to putting things away, so having a bowl I can just put things down into as I use them is really useful.

Since I’ve got the bowl I’ve been careful with the outside. I don’t move it very often and I’ve resisted trying to neaten any bits which are starting to peel. I don’t want to do any more damage to my pretty bowl.
