John Hardy. Co-Principal Trumpet, Royal Opera Orchestra.

Post by ariful199 »

The Denis Wedgwood piccolo trumpet is the finest piccolo trumpet I have ever played, and, in my opinion, the best on the market today. It is very well in tune, has an even response throughout the whole range of the instrument, and makes a superb sound.

I have been the proud owner of a Wedgwood instrument since 1984 when, fresh out of the Royal Academy of Music, I joined the BBC Concert Orchestra as Principal Cornet. Since then I have used my Denis Wedgwood Cornet extensively shop in concerts and recordings and can honestly say that I have not come across an instrument yet that can meet my requirements so admirably.

I can take on the works of Berlioz, Prokofiev, and Elgar knowing that Denis' craftsmanship won't let me down. I find it no trouble whatsoever to change from trumpet to cornet when working in the orchestra, and when occasionally asked to play in the brass band, find myself equally at ease with the rest of the ensemble. In short, my cornet is an indispensable item of my trade.
